Exploding Some Diamond Style Myths

Diamonds are extremely mysterious. You could go as far as to say diamonds are also unpredictable, and the misconceptions that we have about diamond jewellery are frequently proven wrong. The fact is, diamonds mean lots of different things to different people, and a great item of jewellery can be a very personal thing.

One of the biggest myths about diamonds is that the larger the diamond the better. Often it is the case that size (carat) of a diamond contributes to its financial worth, but this is different to saying that bigger diamonds are better. More and more people are opting for smaller, more demure diamonds.

Similarly, many are avoiding raised stones in their wedding rings in favour of stones set into bands. One of the reasons for this is that flashier stones can be less comfortable to wear, especially on a permanent basis. Also, more refined stones can sometimes be more elegant, as well as more affordable.

The stereotype of the perfect diamond rings are stones that are clear or white. However, more and more of us are choosing instead stones of more idiosyncratic colour. Coloured stones have always been considered valuable, however only recently has their popularity begun to rival that of whiter stones.

Perhaps if you are choosing a diamond you will consider stones that are a little atypical. Going against the grain with style choices is a great way to create a truly unique style that will get you noticed.
